On December 9th, the Danang City Voluntary Blood Donor Steering Committee together with the Red Cross Society organized a meeting to honor the outstanding volunteers in the humanitarian social work in Da Nang city in 2018.
100 volunteers working in the area of voluntary blood donation and 25 volunteers working in social work have been praised, honored, awarded the cup of volunteers representing the city of Da Nang in 2018.

Over the past several years, volunteers have been active in voluntary blood donations and social activities for the community. Following successfully in previous years, in 2018, the volunteer force of the city not only thrived on the number of clubs, teams and volunteers, but the quality of activities has also been improved. especially in the field of voluntary blood donation.
To date, the city has 28 clubs, teams and groups with 2,489 members. There were 15 blood donors with 2,131 members, 08 clubs with 175 members, Rh rare blood donors with 65 members, 5 clubs of families with 48 donors. In 2018, these clubs, teams, and teams have been able to mobilize 4,439 units of blood, accounting for 14% of the total number of blood units mobilized throughout the city, including participating in blood donations at hospitals 2,447 blood units (total blood of 1,670 blood units, platelets of 777 units of blood, rare blood RH of 20 units of blood) meet the needs of blood in emergency and prompt treatment of patients.
Typical of these is Bloody Hands Club. In 2018, the club has mobilized 1,271 units of blood, including 430 units of platelets. The Volunteer Heart Club in 2018 mobilized 605 units of blood. Ngu Hanh Son District Understanding Blood and Trauma Club mobilized 437 units of total blood and 112 units of Platelet. Green Banana Club, Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District have mobilized 1,075 units of blood, 112 units of platelets. Especially the members of the club “Rare blood Rh negative,” although in small number, but in recent years has contributed to save many patients carrying rare blood, the rate of 1/10,000. Thanks to these activities, Da Nang has become one of the leading localities in the voluntary blood donation movement with about 35,000 regular and unscheduled participants.
In addition to mobilizing and participating in voluntary blood donation, blood donation clubs participate in humanitarian activities with various forms of activities associated with the campaign “Each organization, each individual associated with a humanitarian address” and the “Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange” campaign.
Team model, group of volunteers to participate in emergency first aid traffic accident is also worth noting. Since early 2018, volunteer teams have handled 179 cases of traffic accidents in a timely manner, 70 victims were first aided and transferred to the hospital.
Besides, the Red Cross volunteers also presented many models of humanitarian charitable activities such as: 5,000 VND rice bowl, Love Kitchen in Cam Le district, Love Arm club in Man Thai ward … These models have become a reliable address for people with difficult circumstances to come for sharing and care.
