Hai Phong City Red Cross: Meaningful humanitarian activities on the first days of the year

From 3 – 5 January 2019, the delegation of Hai Phong Red Cross was headed by Ms. Cao Thi Phuong – Chairman of the organization and members of the Standing Committee of the Hai Phong city Red Cross presented 428 life jackets, 200 pairs of boots for students and started construction of local civil bridges in Bac Kan and Cao Bang provinces.

In Bac Can province, the delegation awarded 200 life jackets, 200 pairs of boots worth over VND 20 million, supported by Hai Phong Red Cross from benefactors in and outside Hai Phong city to support the students of Kindergarten, Primary School in Yen Cu Commune (Bac Kan). The school has 200 students studying at 6 school sites, each school is as far as an average of 10km of mountain road, the students here are 100% ethnic minority children, the economic life is still difficult.

In Cao Bang province, the delegation of Hai Phong Red Cross organized the construction of a civil bridge of Na Tong hamlet, Hong Nam commune, Hoa An district. Na Tong hamlet has a stream of nearly 5m in width, running through the hamlet, separating 14 households and production areas of more than 30 households. People often walk through the stream every day, although in flood season, water level is over 1m high and squeezing makes it difficult for travel and production.

In order to help the people of Na Tong more convenient to travel, the Hai Phong City Red Cross organized a commencement of the construction of a civil bridge here, a 6m long bridge, 2m wide, 2m high with reinforced concrete with a total of 250 million fund, in which Hai Ninh Pagoda (Hai Phong City) supports 100 million VND.

Hai Phong City Red Cross handed over the amount of VND 100 million to build the bridge of Na Tong village, Hong Nam commune, Hoa An district (Cao Bang).

Also in this locality, the delegation also gave 228 life jackets worth 16 million VND to pupils of Hong Nam Communes Primary, Primary and Secondary School sponsored by Vietnamese-Japanese International Transport Company (Hai Phong).

These activities are of great significance in helping students and ethnic minority people feel secure in their daily life and economic development.
