Conference on implementing the Prime Ministers Decision on “Issuing a number of publications, newspapers and magazines for ethnic minority areas in mountainous and extremely difficult areas”

On January 23rd, in Hanoi, the Committee for Ethnic Minorities held a conference to evaluate the implementation of the Prime Ministers Decision No. 59/QĐ-TTg and deploy the Prime Ministers Decision No. 45/QĐ-TTg on “Issuing a number of publications, newspapers and magazines for ethnic minority areas in mountainous and extremely difficult areas” in the period of 2019-2021. Mr. Do Van Chien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister, Head of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities chaired the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Do Van Chien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister, Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities thanked the press agencies and goverment agencies for accompanying the Committee for Ethnic Minorities. in the effective implementation of Decision 59 / QĐ-TTg, contributing to helping ethnic agencies at all levels from the central to local level complete the assigned political tasks.

Evaluating the results of implementing Decision 59/QĐ-TTg, Mr. Vu Huu Hoat, Director of Propaganda Department, Committee for Ethnic Minorities said: there are 18 press agencies, participating magazines who has been implementing Decision No. 59/QĐ-TTg in the period of 2017 – 2018, beneficiaries are mainly ethnic minorities in extremely difficult villages, border villages, especially difficult communes, Khmer pagodas in the ethnic minorities and mountainous areas with a budget for implementing policies are VND 210 billion.

In the process of implementing Decision 59/QĐ-TTg, the press agencies have closely followed the principles, objectives and orientation of propaganda, regularly updating information, innovating content, focusing on improving quality of news, articles, photos reflect faithfully all aspects of life of ethnic minority people and mountainous areas, especially difficult areas, remote and border areas; improve beautiful forms, short, clear and basic publications in accordance with the customs, psychology and cultural identity of ethnic minority and mountainous people. Publications have been delivered to the right beneficiaries at communes, villages, and villages.

Mr. Vu Huu Hoat said: The provision of newspapers and magazines for ethnic minority and mountainous areas and especially difficult areas has had positive impacts on raising awareness for ethnic minority people and mountainous regions; promptly reflect good people, good deeds, raise awareness on activites triggered by bad guys … The press also contributed positively to improving the effectiveness of the national target program on building new rural areas, reducing poverty, sustainablility in ethnic minority areas; The movement “All people unite to build a cultural life”; The network of preschool education schools, schools in ethnic minority and mountainous areas continues to be expanded; scientific and technical transfer, technology, agricultural and forestry extension work; propaganda and dissemination of preferential credit policies, vocational training; disseminate good and effective production models to people …

According to the Decision No. 45/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister on “Issuing a number of publications, newspapers and magazines for ethnic minority mountainous and extremely difficult areas” for the period of 2019-2021, there will be 19 participating newspapers and magazines. Newspapers need to continue to innovate, improve the quality of content, forms, information, propaganda and reflect the real life of people, as well as documents for community activities. In 2019, the orientation of propaganda, improving the quality of publications and magazines to implement policies in the direction of multidimensional information on establishments, especially in the Northwest, Central Highlands, Southwestern regions and West Central Coast. The publications focus on the principles and purposes of newspapers and magazines, but must go deeply into specific topics, specific to ethnic minorities.

At the conference, representatives of some newspapers also exchanged difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing the program such as the timely provision of funding is still slow, the price of newspapers and working hours increases, the plan of issuing publication products in 2019.

Concluding at the conference, Mr. Do Van Chien affirmed that, with ethnic minorities in this period, printing presses with the advantage that document storage is still an important information channel. In the spirit of supporting newspapers and magazines in the context of complying with the regulations, the Committee for Ethnic Minorities will accompany the units to best implement the Decision 45/QĐ-TTg .
